Everton consider West Ham ace as Barkley replacement

Everton are considering a move for West Ham attacker Manuel Lanzini this summer as a possible replacement for Ross Barkley, reports the Daily Mirror.

Barkley is widely expected to leave Goodison Park this summer as he comes into the last 12 months of his current deal and is reluctant to put pen to paper on a new contract for the Toffees.

Everton would rather cash in on the 23-year-old this summer than lose him on a free, with Barkley linked with moves to Manchester United and Tottenham.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has been identified as a potential signing, though with Swansea now safe from relegation, the Swans are set to fight hard to retain the Icelander’s services.

That has seen Everton switch targets to Lanzini, with the Argentine impressing once more for West Ham this term.

Eight goals and two assists has helped return a WhoScored rating of 7.11 and the Hammers are likely to demand a hefty fee if they are to be convinced into selling the 24-year-old this summer.

Everton, however, are thought to be demanding upwards of £30m for Barkley, and his possible sale could be used to fund a move for Lanzini.
