Manchester United expected to wrap up deal for Real Madrid man

Manchester United are expected to announce the signing of Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez at the weekend according to Colombian radio station Radio Caracol via AS.

The Colombia international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bernabeu for the best part of 12 months, yet despite rumours of a departure last summer, he instead remained in Madrid.

However, a summer exit from Real Madrid is expected to happen and while Chelsea had courted the Colombian, United are believed to have won the race to secure his services.

United are in the market for a marquee signing at the end of the season, with Rodriguez fitting the bill perfectly.

A raft of injury issues has also held United back this term, with manager Jose Mourinho looking to strengthen sufficiently to improve the club’s chances of returning to the summit of English football.

The 25-year-old attacker would undoubtedly provide the necessary creative thrust in the final third, with an average of 3.4 key passes per 90 better than any other La Liga player to have made 20 or more appearances this season.
