PFA Player of the Year wants Leicester stay

Leicester City have been handed a boost in their attempt to keep some their star players after Riyad Mahrez told the owner he wants to stay, reports The Daily Telegraph.

The newly crowned Premier League champions had been coming round to the fact they may lose Mahrez in the summer following a wave of interest for their star player over the course of the season.

Mahrez has been in phenomenal form this season and he was rewarded with the PFA Player of the Year award last month and Leicester are keen to double his salary so he will earn £75,000-a-week.

The Algeria international’s agent has previously admitted Mahrez was only “50/50” about his future at the King Power Stadium, but the 25-year-old has now reportedly told Leicester’s owners he wants to stay next season as Leicester welcome Champions League football.
