Manchester United to rival Chelsea for Anderlecht star

Manchester United are hoping to pip Chelsea to the signing of Anderlecht youngster Youri Tielemans, according to the Daily Express. 

The Belgium international had been heavily linked with a summer switch to Ligue 1 giants Monaco, while Atletico Madrid had also registered an interest in the 19-year-old. 

However, the Premier League pair remain keen on the teenage midfield sensation, who has scored a series of wonder goals this campaign. 

Manchester United had an up close look at Tielemans in their 1-1 Europa League draw with Anderlecht last week and can scout further in this week’s return leg. 

Chelsea had scouts in attendance in the stalemate in Belgium, however, and remain keen to secure his services at the end of the season. 

The Blues had looked to sign Atalanta's Franck Kessie, but the Ivory Coast international looks set to join Roma, leading the west London side to turn their attention to Tiielemans. 

The midfielder has impressed for Anderlecht in the Europa League this term, with three goals contributing to a WhoScored rating of 7.36.
