West Ham forward Mauro Zarate is set to undergo a medical at Fiorentina in the next 24 hours, according to The Guardian.
Zarate, 28, only joined the Hammers in May 2014 but is now set to depart as the Premier League outfit look to rebalance their wage bill following the arrival of Sam Byram.
The Argentine forward hasn’t completely convinced during his stint in the Premier League and will move to Fiorentina in a deal reportedly worth as little as £1.6m.
Fiorentina currently have to deal with a host of injury concerns, so the addition of Zarate will be beneficial for their chances of keeping tabs with their title rivals.
The former Inter forward has scored five goals in 22 league appearances for West Ham in his two years at the club.
Additionally, Manuel Lanzini (1.4) averages more shots from outside the box per game than Zarate (1.3) for the Hammers in the Premier League this season, furthering his statistically calculated strength of ‘long shots’.
