Middlesbrough have confirmed the signing of Stewart Downing from West Ham United.
The 30-year-old returns to the Riverside Stadium, 6 years after leaving Boro for Aston Villa.
Downing enjoyed stints with Liverpool and most recently West Ham, with whom he registered eight league assists for last season.
The England international was a creative force for the Hammers over the 2014/15 campaign, playing 85 key passes in 37 appearances, a return bettered by only three players in England's top tier.
Despite this, West Ham have allowed Downing to leave for Middlesbrough for a fee believed to be in the region of £7m, with the wideman penning a four-year deal.
"It's an amazing signing for us. He's more than just a player," manager Aitor Karanka told the club's official website.
