Crystal Palace earmark Germany goalkeeper as number one target

Crystal Palace are readying an audacious bid for Paris Saint Germain stopper Kevin Trapp, according to The Sun.

Roy Hodgson is keen to sign a first choice number one having chopped and changed between Wayne Hennessey and Eagles stalwart Julian Speroni since his appointment.

The Londoners have now been linked with a bold move for Germany international Trapp, who has fallen out of favour in the French capital under Unai Emery this season.

The 27-year-old has started just one league match for the Ligue 1 leaders all season, with Alphonse Areola cementing his place as first choice at PSG.

As such the club’s former number one may well be open to a move next month and there is a suggestion that a loan deal to Palace could be on the cards.

Since he arrived in France in 2015, despite missing 31 of a possible 91 matches, Trapp has kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in Ligue 1 (34), doing so in more than half of the matches he has played (60).
