Roma pip Fiorentina to Borussia Dortmund starlet

Roma have moved ahead of Fiorentina in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund youngster Emre Mor after submitting a €20m (£17.9m) offer, reports Bild, via Football Italia.

Reports emerged earlier in the week claiming Fiorentina were on the verge of signing the Turkey international in a deal worth €14m (£12.5m), but now they look set to miss out to their Serie A rivals.

Roma have made signing a winger their priority in the transfer window after selling Mohamed Salah to Liverpool earlier this summer and Eusebio Di Francesco’s side have already been linked with moves for Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez and Real Madrid forward Lucas Vazquez.

However, now they appear to have placed their faith in Mor, although it remains to be seen what his potential arrival would mean for their pursuit of Mahrez and Vazquez.

The 20-year-old only joined Dortmund 12 months ago but struggled to make a significant impact under Thomas Tuchel and is now free to leave the Bundesliga giants.

Mor made more successful dribbles per 90 (5.3) than any other player to make 10 or more Bundesliga appearances last season.
