Everton eye move for Inter summer signing

Everton are interested in signing Inter midfielder Ever Banega after the former Sevilla midfielder was made available for transfer next month by the Serie A giants, reports The Daily Mirror.

Banega, 28, left Sevilla to join Inter on a free transfer in the summer but could be about to leave the club after just six months.

The Argentina international has dropped down the pecking order at Inter following the appointment of Stefano Pioli at the start of November and Everton are now in talks with his agent to sort a January move that could be in the region of £8m.

Everton are expected to be one of the busiest teams in the January transfer window as Ronald Koeman looks to arrest their alarming slump in form with new recruits.

With Yannick Bolasie ruled out for the whole of 2017, signings are needed to stabilise their season. While Banega isn’t a player that would add competition for places in Bolasie’s position, the Argentine, who has more than 50 caps for his country, would certainly add quality in the final third.

Despite falling out of favour since Pioli’s tactical switch, only Mohamed Salah (44) and Marek Hamsik (38) have created more chances in Serie A this season than Banega (36).
