Chelsea reject interest for Batshuayi from Ligue 1

Chelsea have turned down an offer from Lille to take summer signing Michy Batshuayi back to France for the remainder of the season, reports the London Evening Standard.

Antonio Conte’s side paid in excess of £30m to sign the striker from Marseille in the summer but Batshuayi has struggled to make any impact for the Premier League leaders thus far.

The Chelsea boss is adamant the club are not interested in selling the Belgium international this month amid interest from London rivals West Ham and the Blues have now also rejected Lille’s approach for the young striker.

With Chelsea firm on the stance Batshuayi will not be sold this season, the young striker is set for almost an entire season on the bench after alarmingly being left out of the starting XI on Boxing Day when Diego Costa was suspended for their clash with Bournemouth.

Batshuayi is yet to start a Premier League game for Chelsea this season and has only featured in 79 minutes of league action spread across 11 appearances from the bench. Despite being limited to little game time, the Belgian striker has still scored and registered one assist in that time.
