Stoke midfielder Giannelli Imbula has agreed personal terms with Monaco and is waiting for the two clubs to agree a fee before completing a move, reports L’Equipe.
The Potters made Imbula the club’s record signing when they paid Porto £18.3m on deadline day at the end of January 2016 but the 24-year-old has struggled to make any impact at the club.
Imbula was transfer listed by Mark Hughes at the start of the summer after falling completely out of favour at the club last season, although the Premier League side want to recoup as much of their original investment as possible.
The 24-year-old agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 champions Monaco at the start of August but is still waiting for something to give in negotiations between the two sides.
Leonardo Jardim’s side were initially hopeful of securing a loan move with the option to buy but the Potters are only interested in a permanent deal, which has left Monaco attempting to lower Stoke’s €15m (£13.6m) valuation.
The French midfielder was limited to just nine starts in the Premier League last season and a further three appearances from the substitutes bench. Stoke only won 16.7% of those matches, compared to 34.6% when Imbula was not involved.
