European champions target Premier League's highest rated player

Barcelona are weighing up a £40m move for Leicester star Riyad Mahrez, reports the Daily Star.

The Algerian has been in superb form for the Foxes in their title pursuit this season, gaining a better WhoScored rating (7.82) than any other player.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona believed to be keen on adding the 25-year-old to the ranks at the end of the season.

Leicester will be understandably keen on retaining the services of one of their prized assets beyond the summer, though are braced for offers for Mahrez when the transfer window opens.

A total of 16 goals and a further 11 assists in the Premier League this term has helped the Foxes in their surprise title charge.
