Manchester United are set to beat Manchester City to the signature of Benfica midfielder Renato Sanches, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Sanches, 18, has been heavily linked with United all season and Louis van Gaal’s side are reportedly close to landing the midfield in a staggering €60m (£46.7m) deal spread across four years.
The Portugal international was particularly impressive against Bayern Munich in the last round of the Champions League, which had alerted incoming City manager Pep Guardiola to his services.
However, City look to have left it too late in their pursuit of the midfielder, with United in pole to wrap up a deal to the highly rated Benfica man.
Only two Benfica players averaged more dribbles per game in the Champions League than Sanches prior to their elimination in the quarter-finals (2.5).
