Tim Sherwood is keen to keep hold of star striker Christian Benteke this summer.
The Aston Villa frontman has been strongly linked with a move away from Villa Park this transfer window, with Liverpool and Tottenham both leading the race to secure the services of the burly frontman.
Benteke has scored 42 league goals over the last three seasons, a return bettered only by three strikers in that same, and Sherwood, as one might expect, is hopeful of retaining the services of the Belgium international.
"We want Christian here," Sherwood told Sky Sports News HQ.
"We want to keep our best players and Christian is certainly one of those."
Reports on Monday suggest Liverpool are prepared to meet the minimum fee release clause in Benteke's contract, which is currently set at £32.5m.
