Chelsea are monitoring Harry Kane's situation at Bayern Munich as they consider a move for the former Tottenham icon, reports Football Insider.

Kane left Spurs for Bayern over the summer and has enjoyed a prolific debut campaign in Germany having scored more goals (25) than any other player in Europe's top five leagues.

However, defeat at Bochum over the weekend leaves Bayern eight points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, while the German giants also fell to a 1-0 Champions League first leg loss to Lazio last week.

And it's been reported that Kane is not entirely happy in Germany and could be tempted by a Premier League return.

Chelsea, who are in the market for a big-name striker in the summer, would jump at the chance to sign a striker of Kane's calibre.

A move to Stamford Bridge would see Kane link up with Mauricio Pochettino, the duo having worked together for Tottenham during their respective time together with the north London side.

The Blues are reportedly willing to match the fee Bayern paid for Kane last summer, which would ease their stance on the 30-year-old.

A return to England would also present Kane with the chance to hunt down Alan Shearer's Premier League goal record, with the Bayern star currently 47 goals off matching that 260-goal haul.
