Arsenal re-sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid

Arsenal have secured Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on loan for the second straight season, the Premier League outfit has announced.

Ceballos emerged as a key player at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta towards the end of last season and will now spend the 2020/21 campaign at the Emirates.

Still deemed surplus to requirements by Madrid, there were suggestions Ceballos would return to boyhood club Real Betis this summer.

However, Ceballos pushed to sign with Arsenal due to his relationship with Arteta and improved chances of getting back in the Spanish national team.

The 24-year-old missed out on a place in Luis Enrique's Spain squad for this week's UEFA Nations League matches.

Ceballos' return is another huge boost for Arsenal following their Community Shield victory over Liverpool last weekend.

Not only have Arsenal convinced captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to pledge his long-term future to the club, they have also bolstered their defensive options with Gabriel's arrival from Lille.

Arsenal had a better points-per-game ratio under Arteta when Ceballos was in the starting XI (2) compared to when he wasn't (1.2).
