AC Milan have announced they have signed highly rated Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to make the switch permanent.
Kessie has enjoyed a thoroughly impressive breakthrough campaign with this season’s surprise package Atalanta and the Ivory Coast international, who has been dubbed the next Yaya Toure, was previously linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea.
It was thought that the 20-year-old would snub interest from the Premier League to join Roma but their interest proved short lived following Milan’s intervention, continuing what is expected to be a very encouraging summer for the Serie A giants.
Only Blerim Dzemaili (8) and Marek Hamsik (12) scored more goals from central midfield in Serie A this season than Kessie (6). However, the Ivorian midfielder will need to learn to curb his temper after being sent two times for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in Serie A this season - only three players were sent off more often.
