Cherries plot move for Championship rock

Bournemouth will look to bolster their defence by signing Hull City defender Curtis Davies, according to the Bournemouth Echo.

Davies, 30, is currently sidelined with a calf strain but his performances this season have provided the foundations to the Tigers’ success in the Championship this season.

The former Birmingham City defender had been expected to move over the summer when Hull were relegated from the Premier League and with just over six months left on his current deal he can expect to be targeted in the January transfer window.

Bournemouth could do with more Premier League experience in their side as they look to defy the odds and steer clear of the bottom three this season.

Eddie Howe’s side have lost five of their last six league matches and are two points from safety after 12 matches, although long-term injuries to key players have caused havoc to their season.

Davies is currently the second highest rated player in the Championship (7.65) and only two other players in England’s second-tier have won more aerial duels per game than the Hull No.6 (6.7).
