Real Madrid prepare £60m bid for Premier League midfielder

Real Madrid have rekindled their interest in Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen and will table a £60m bid before the transfer window for Spanish clubs shuts on September 2, claims The Sun.

Eriksen has entered the final 12 months of his current Tottenham deal and revealed earlier this summer he wants a change of scenery.

Manchester United expressed interest in Eriksen before deadline day for Premier League clubs but quickly discovered the Denmark international was holding out for a move to Spain.

Madrid have reluctantly conceded defeat in pursuit of Manchester United star Paul Pogba and are now ready to bolster their midfield options with Eriksen’s arrival.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy slapped a £100m asking price on Eriksen’s head at the start of the window but is now under real pressure to sell the 27-year-old.

Eriksen will more than likely leave on a free transfer at the end of the season if he is not sold this summer and Madrid plan to bid £60m for the creative midfielder.

Since August 2016, only Kevin De Bruyne (39) has supplied more assists than Eriksen in the Premier League (37).
