Madrid and Barca to battle it out for Premier League sensation

Real Madrid and Barcelona will lock horns over Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez in the summer, according to The Sun.

Mahrez, 25, is expected to be one of the most sought after players when the transfer window opens in the summer after dazzling so far this season.

The Algeria international, who only cost Leicester £400,000, has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season and has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United.

However, the Red Devils may be fighting a lost battle with Barcelona and Real Madrid determined to land the striker for £25m.

Mahrez only penned a new four-year deal at the start of the season but Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri is already keen for his terms to be improved in order to ward off any interest from admirers.

Their case has been strengthened after Jamie Vardy also committed his future to the current league leaders earlier this year.

Mahrez is the only player in the Premier League in double figures for goals and assists this season (14 goals, 10 assists). He is also the highest rated player in England’s top-flight (7.90 rating).
