Everton put £50m price tag on star man

Everton will demand a staggering £50m for Ross Barkley if he fails to sign a new deal before the end of the season, reports The Daily Mail.

Barkley will have less than 12 months to run on his existing deal in the summer and Ronald Koeman has told the midfielder he needs to sign a new deal by the end of the season or be sold.

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly monitoring Barley’s situation at Goodison Park but would certainly not be willing to meet Everton’s staggering transfer demands given they could theoretically sign him for nothing at the end of next season.

Everton have already been linked with a move for Gylfi Sigurdsson and Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen as potential replacements for Barkley, but it seems incredibly unlikely they would be able to command £50m for the 24-year-old.

Barkley has endured a turbulent first year under Koeman but has produced his best football in the second half of the campaign and has registered more assists than any other Everton player (8) this season.
