Tottenham will lodge a formal offer for Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti imminently, according to L’Equipe, via Get French Football.
Umtiti, 22, has impressed for Lyon this season and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed across the Channel.
Newcastle have previously expressed an interest in the central defender but Tottenham are now leading the chase for the former France Under-21 international and are reportedly on the brink of making an offer for his services.
The Cameroonian-born defender has made 27 appearances in the league this season, scored one goal and only two Lyon teammates have made more interceptions (68) thus far.
