Manchester City prepared to let Sane's contract run down

Manchester City are ready to stand firm and block Leroy Sane's move to Bayern Munich this summer despite the fact he could leave for nothing at the end of next season, reports The Guardian.

Sane is about to enter the final 12 months of his existing City deal and has reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern on a five-year deal after falling down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola since the start of last season.

Bayern were forced to put their pursuit of Sane last summer on pause after the Germany international suffered a serious knee injury at the start of August and he is yet to return for City.

It was thought City would recultantly be forced to cash in on Sane this summer in order to avoid losing him on a free next year but Pep Guardiola's side are ready to dig their heels in, particularly with transfer valuations set to tumble.

Despite talk of an immiment move to Bayern, City insist they have yet to receive any bids for Sane and are planning for 24-year-old to be part of their plans for next season.

Sane was named the PFA Young Player of the Year at the end of the 2017/18 campaign but struggled for regular playing time the following season after the arrival of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester.

Nevertheless, he was the only player to register double figures for both goals and assists in each of those campaigns in the Premier League.
