Valencia defender Aymen Abdennour has confirmed there were talks with Premier League clubs over a transfer in the summer.
The La Liga giants endured a summer of change after seeing players come and go but one player that remained at the club, when it looked most certain that he would leave, was Abdennour.
Chelsea and Everton were reportedly interested in signing the Valencia defender towards the end of the summer window and the central defender has confirmed there were talks with Premier League sides.
“I was negotiating with English clubs during the summer window but for financial reasons we could not complete the transfer,” Abdennour told reporters, as quoted by Marca.
No Valencia player has committed more errors that have directly led to a shot at goal in the last two La Liga campaigns than Abdennour (3).
