Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso is unsure whether he will extend his stay at the Allianz Arena when his contract runs out next summer.
Alonso, 33, made 26 appearances in his first season at Bayern last season, but refused to be drawn on making a definitive answer during the club’s pre-season tour of Asia.
“My contract? We will see what happens. This is not the time to discuss this subject,” the former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder said prior to Bayern’s friendly victory over Inter on Tuesday.
The ex-Spain international was central to Bayern’s possession-based dominance under Pep Guardiola last season. In fact, Alonso averaged at least 18 more passes per game than any other Bundesliga player last season (105.5).
