Chelsea on trail of England trio as Ox rejects new deal

Chelsea are still hoping to make a number of moves in the coming weeks and are believed to be increasingly confident of a deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in particular, The Guardian reports.

The Arsenal winger has reportedly rejected a new contract at Arsenal and made his desire to leave for a fresh challenge this summer clear to the club.

The Blues have been long-term admirers of the 24-year-old, who has just entered the final year of his current deal at the Emirates.

With seven assists last season despite seeing his playing time limited once again, Oxlade-Chamberlain set up a teammate to score once every 222.3 minutes in the Premier League.

It is thought that a bid in the region of £35m would be enough to force the Gunners hand for a player whose versatility would be a real asset to the Blues.

The lack of depth available to Conte, particularly in midfield following the departure of Nemanja Matic, has already been exposed this season.

As such the Londoners have also not given up on signing either Ross Barkley or Danny Drinkwater before the transfer window closes, both of whom are valued at around £30m by their clubs.
