Wolves sign Jonny on permanent deal

Wolves have announced they have signed Atletico Madrid full-back Jonny on a long-term deal until the summer of 2023.

The newly promoted Premier League side signed Jonny on a season-long loan deal last summer but have already moved to secure his services on a full-time basis.

Jonny has perfectly responded to questions why Wolves sold star left-back Barry Douglas in the summer and has even worked his way into the Spanish national team this season.

Wolves have reportedly agreed to match their club transfer record to land Jonny, paying Atletico in the region of £18m.

“I’m very happy to sign for Wolves,” he told the club’s official website. “The last few days we spoke about it and now it’s official. I’ll be Wolves for the next four years. I’m really happy to continue to be involved with this team.

“I am very happy here, the truth is that it was very easy to decide. They are treating me very well, there are great staff, great team mates and great supporters. It is a big club and really, I am very happy to be here.”

Jonny has started 20 Premier League matches for Wolves this season and no team-mate averages more interceptions per game than the 24-year-old (2.1).
