Everton’s move for Sigurdsson on brink of collapse

Talks between Everton and Swansea for Gylfi Sigurdsson are on the brink of collapse with just £5m separating the two Premier League sides at the table, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Ronald Koeman revealed earlier this week that a deal was close to bring Sigurdsson to Goodison Park but the Everton manager is now on the verge of missing out on his top summer target.

Both sides reportedly came to a verbal agreement on a £45m transfer for the Iceland international but Swansea are close to walking away from the deal completely after Everton attempted to renegotiate previously agreed terms.

Sigurdsson is keen to leave Swansea this summer and was left out of their pre-season tour to America after admitting he was not in the right head space to consider playing for Paul Clement’s side.

Only Kevin De Bruyne (24) created more clear-cut goalscoring opportunities than Sigurdsson (16) in the Premier League last season.
