Real Madrid have asked about the availability of Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic, claims The Daily Mail.
Pulisic is regarded as one of the best prospects in the world and has previously been linked with moves to Liverpool and Manchester United.
The United States international turned in a sublime performance in Dortmund’s pre-season win over Liverpool, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory.
Madrid are determined to make some marquee signings this summer in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo’s shock departure but are struggling to get deals over the line.
Chelsea ace Eden Hazard is the favourite to replace Ronaldo at Madrid following his exploits at the 2018 World Cup and now Madrid are weighing up a move for Pulisic.
Madrid could face competition for his signature from Bayern Munich, who have identified the 19-year-old as the ideal long-term replacement or veteran wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
Pulisic completed more dribbles than any other player in the Bundesliga last season (77).
A 42% success rate is poor. Yes, he had a decent number of successful dribbles but it could also be argued that his discernment isn't particularly good. For comparison, Andros Townsend had 84 successful dribbles @ a success rate of 69% last season. Yes, Townsend! The two best dribblers in world football: Lionel Messi (185 successful dribbles, 72% success) and Eden Hazard (165 successful dribbles, 82.5% success) are the true benchmark. I like Pulisic, he is a rough diamond with top potential but he still needs a lot of coaching and freedom to develop. Lopetegui is a hands-on coach, rather than a manager, so that is a plus but the spotlight which comes with being a Real Madrid player could come too soon and hinder/ruin Christian's development. Lucien Favre develops youngsters well, he has had to in the past being in charge of teams with small budgets, so staying at Dortmund for the next two or three seasons followed by a record-breaking move to Madrid makes the most sense imo.
