Carabao Cup Final: Manchester City star ruled out

Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has a hamstring problem and will not be risked in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Arsenal, claims The Daily Mirror.

Sterling suffered a hamstring injury during City’s 4-0 win away to Basel in the Champions League 12 days ago and failed to recover in time to face Wigan in the FA Cup on Monday.

The 23-year-old is currently enjoying his finest ever season but Pep Guardiola does not want his in-form forward to make the injury worse against Arsenal.

Guardiola is looking at the bigger picture and does not want Sterling to miss key league and European games going forward.

City are expected to welcome Gabriel Jesus back from injury this weekend but the Brazilian has not featured since New Year’s Eve and has endured a tough campaign.

Sterling’s absence will come as a huge boost for Arsenal, who are big underdogs ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final.

The England international has scored 19 goals and provided six assists in 31 games across league and European competition this season.
