Liverpool’s £28m bid for former Chelsea winger rejected

Roma have rejected Liverpool’s opening offer of £28m for Mohamed Salah and will not entertain any bids unless their £40m valuation is met, reports The Daily Mail.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has earmarked the former Chelsea winger as the ideal player to bolster his offensive options after watching the club’s title challenge fade when Sadio Mane left for Africa Cup of Nations duty at the start of the year.

Klopp has already kicked off Liverpool’s recruitment drive with the arrival of Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke but the German is now targeting ready-made stars in a bid to take Liverpool to the next level after securing a return to the Champions League for next season.

Salah, 24, endured two incredibly underwhelming years at Chelsea before sealing a permanent to Roma in 2015 where he has established himself as one of their best players.

Liverpool still have a long way to go before signing the Egypt international but Salah is reportedly keen to return to the Premier League, which may work in their favour.

The Roma No.11 was one of just eight players in Europe’s top five leagues that recorded double figures for goals (15) and assists (11) this season.
