Martial may leave Manchester United this summer, hints agent

The agent of Anthony Martial has refused to rule out a summer exit from Manchester United amid interest from Arsenal.

Martial, like many United players, has endured a turbulent time at Old Trafford since Jose Mourinho was appointed manager in 2016.

The France international has failed to nail down a regular starting berth under Mourinho and Alexis Sanchez’s arrival in January has raised further questions about his long-term future at the club.

United’s board believe they have unearthed a superstar in the making in Martial but Mourinho’s handling of the talented winger could force him to leave the club.

Arsenal expressed an interest in signing Martial when United wrapped up a deal for Sanchez and his agent, Philippe Lamboley, has hinted he could leave this summer.

“Will [Martial] stay in Manchester in the summer? At the moment, I cannot say anything else about it,” he told Il Bianconero, via the London Evening Standard.

“His goal is to win the FA Cup and to cement with Manchester United the second place in the Premier League.”

Things have admittedly gone better for Martial this season compared to his first campaign with Mourinho but he is only a rotation option for the Portuguese.

Martial’s back in the France national squad after an improvement on the pitch but he has only started 16 Premier League matches this season.

Nevertheless, since joining United from Monaco in 2015, the 22-year-old has scored more league goals than any other player at the club (24).
