Dortmund to offer Madrid target new deal

Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is determined to get Julian Weigl to sign a new deal amid interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, reports Der Westen, via Get German Football.

Weigl, 20, still has three years left to on his existing deal after joining from 1860 Munich last summer but his development has caught the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The Germany international is set for a more prominent role in central midfield for Dortmund this season following Ilkay Gundogan’s departure and Tuchel wants his long-term future resolved.

Of players that made at least 10 appearances in Europe’s top five leagues last season only three players averaged more passes per 90 minutes than Weigl (93.7).
