Everton enter the race for Manchester United target

Everton are the latest Premier League side to express an interest in signing Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to The Daily Mirror.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 23, emerged as a £30m target for Manchester United earlier this month but the England international would not be short of suitors should he become available.

The 23-year-old will only have 12 months to run on his existing deal with Arsenal in the summer and the Gunners could be forced to cash in on the versatile midfielder if they fail to secure his long-term future before the start of next season.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly also an admirer of the power, pace and versatility Oxlade-Chamberlain can offer and a clean break from Arsenal, where he has failed to nail down a regular starting berth, could kickstart his career.

Everton are planning on giving manager Ronald Koeman a huge transfer budget this summer in order to completely overhaul the squad following what has been a disappointing campaign thus far for the Toffees.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has only started 10 games in the Premier League this season and has never managed more than 17 league starts in a campaign since joining Arsenal from Southampton in 2011.

Of players that have made at least 50 appearances in the last six Premier League campaigns only three require fewer minutes per successful dribble than Oxlade-Chamberlain (1 every 23.3 minutes).
