Alejandro Gomez has put questions about his future to bed after Atalanta announced their star man had put pen to paper on a new contract.
The 29-year-old was in sublime form for Atalanta last season and finished the campaign as one of the best players in Serie A.
Gomez, who even earned international recognition with Argentina for the first time earlier this summer, had suggested he would only ever leave Atalanta for a big Italian club.
There were reports linking Lazio with a move for the Atalanta No.10 but Gomez has now agreed terms on a new contract that will reportedly run until 2022 with a significant pay rise.
Gomez was one of only eight players that recorded double figures for goals and assists in Europe’s top five leagues last season. Not only that, but only two players garnered a higher WhoScored rating in Italy’s top tier last term than Gomez (7.75).
Finally, Gomez also registered at least eight more key passes than any other player in Serie A last term (91).
