Crystal Palace have sensationally pulled out of a loan deal to sign Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke amid concerns about his fitness, claims The Sun.
The Eagles appeared to have beaten off competition from their Premier League rivals to sign Solanke on loan for the remainder of the season.
Roy Hodgson has made signing a new striker a top priority this month after being forced to play Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha in attack all season.
Palace, however, are now expected to assess alternative targets after having second thoughts about Solanke’s fitness.
The 21-year-old has not played a single game for Liverpool this season and has been made available for loan this month by Jurgen Klopp.
Solanke missed the entire festive period with a muscle problem and Palace want a striker that can hit the ground running.
Palace are four points above the bottom three but only two sides have scored fewer goals in the Premier League than Hodgson’s side this season (17).
