Liverpool enter talks for Leicester defender

Liverpool are looking to begin talks with Leicester for highly rated defender Ben Chilwell this week with Martin Skrtel expected to leave Anfield this summer, according to The Daily Telegraph.

Chilwell, 19, is yet to make his Premier League debut but has previously been linked with a move to Arsenal and has now been identified as a top target by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Both clubs will reportedly have to fork out a lot of money to sign the England Under-21 international, who is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in England.

The left-back only made three appearances for the Premier League champions this season but Leicester have already rejected two bids from Arsenal in the past 12 months, with the latest a £5m initial offer plus £2m in add-ons, which came in January.

Leicester have reportedly tabled Chilwell an improved £18,000-a-week bumper deal in an attempt to keep the promising defender at the King Power Stadium but are reluctantly coming to the idea of losing him this summer.
