Arsenal poised to beat Juventus to Serie A midfielder

Arsenal are in pole position to beat AC Milan and Juventus to the signing of Udinese midfielder Jakub Jankto, reports Calciomercato.

Arsene Wenger wanted to sign the 21-year-old over the summer but failed to get a deal over the line for the Udinese starlet.

Jankto has not hit the heights he is capable of this season but that hasn’t deterred Wenger’s interest and the Gunners are even on the verge of clinching his signature.

Juventus have also expressed an interest in the Czech Republic international but already have a stacked midfield and are not interested in a serious outlay for his services.

News of Jankto’s potential arrival at the Emirates does not make great reading for Jack Wilshere’s future at the club, as the 25-year-old edges closer to leaving in January.

Jankto has only managed to play a direct hand in two goals in 12 league appearances last season after finishing his breakthrough campaign last term with five goals and four assists.
