Everton sign former Manchester United target on loan

Everton have announced the arrival of Monaco right-back Djibril Sidibe on a season-long loan deal.

Marco Silva has moved for the 2018 World Cup winner to provide competition for places with Seamus Coleman.

Everton have already loaned out Jonjo Kenny to Schalke this summer and Mason Holgate is also expected to leave the club before Thursday’s transfer deadline for English sides.

Sidibe was once linked with a £50m move to the likes of Manchester United after playing an integral part in Monaco’s league-winning campaign in 2016/17.

However, the 27-year-old’s stock has fallen considerably last then after failing to rediscover his best form, coupled with several injury problems.

Sidibe is the sixth signing Everton have made this summer and the Toffees are still hopeful of concluding a deal for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

Sidibe managed just 26 league appearances for Monaco last season and garnered his lowest WhoScored campaign in a Ligue 1 campaign in the last seven seasons (6.58).
