Claude Puel sacked as Leicester boss after six defeats in seven

Claude Puel has been sacked as manager of Leicester City, the Telegraph's John Percy understands.

The Frenchman has been under pressure for some time in the Foxs dugout and among the favourites to lose their job for much of the campaign, though it seems a heavy 4-1 defeat at home to struggling Crystal Palace was the last straw.

Leicester have picked up just one point from the last 18 available in the league, up against title chasers Liverpool, but it's the clubs results against sides outside of the division's top six that has undoubtedly cost the former Nice boss his job.

The team have put in strong performances against the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham in recent times without getting a result, while beating the likes of Chelsea and champions Manchester City.

However, a humiliating cup defeat to League Two Newport set a run of poor results in motion, and they have only beaten one team currently in the bottom half of the table (Everton in 11th) since a 1-0 win at Cardiff way back on November 3rd.

All in all Puel took charge of 56 Premier League matches in his time at the King Power Stadium following his appointment in October 2017, winning only 19 (33.9 per cent) and losing 24 (42.9 per cent).
