Arsenal bid €65m for Serie A star, claims club director
Torino’s director of sport has confirmed the club received a €65m (£55.9m) bid from Arsenal for star striker Andrea Belotti.
The Italy international signed a new long-term deal with the Serie A side earlier in the season which included a €100m (£85.7m) release clause.
Belotti has been in formidable form for Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side this season and his performances have already been seen him linked with a high profile move to Arsenal and Liverpool.
However, Arsene Wenger’s side now appear to have stepped up their interest, although Torino’s sporting of director, Gianluca Petrachi, insists the Gunners will need to pay much more to sign the striker.
“Yes, we received the offer, but it does not reflect the value of the player,” he told Sky Sport Italia, via Football Italia. “Anyway, he is going nowhere for now. We want to enjoy him, then we’ll see what happens.
“We intend to keep Belotti and president Urbano Cairo signed this important buy-out clause. I think he’s worth more than they have offered.”
Belotti has already scored more goals this season (13) than in the whole of last season (12) and his goals have been integral to their positive campaign that has them in eight in the table.
In fact, only Mauro Icardi (14) has scored more goals than the Torino ace in Serie A this season.
