Everton and Chelsea weigh up January move for Paris Saint-Germain striker

Everton and Chelsea will continue to monitor Edinson Cavani’s future at Paris Saint-Germain with a view to making a sensational January move, reports The Daily Mail.

Cavani was involved in a heated bust-up with new PSG team-mate Neymar last weekend and there have been suggestions of a big fall out since then.

Reports from Spanish media have even suggested Neymar has ordered PSG to sell Cavani after their squabble over set-pieces against Lyon.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has already refuted there is a problem between PSG’s best players, but Everton and Chelsea will continue to follow the Uruguay international’s future until January.

Everton failed to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku over the summer and will continue their search for a new frontman when the transfer window opens at the start of next year, although it’s unlikely they’d be able to convince a striker of Cavani’s ilk to make the move.

Chelsea are also in the market for another striker after missing out on Fernando Llorente on the final day of the summer window, but Napoli, Juventus and Inter are reportedly also interested in 30-year-old Cavani.

Cavani is the top goalscorer in Ligue 1 this season (7), while only Lionel Messi, Falcao (both 9) and Paulo Dybala (8) have scored more times across Europe’s top five leagues.
