West Ham striker ruled out of Moyes’ first three games

David Moyes has been served an early blow in his tenure as West Ham manager with news Javier Hernandez will be sidelined for his first three matches, reports The Daily Mirror.

Hernandez picked up a hamstring injury in Mexico’s 3-3 draw with Belgium during the international break and will be sidelined for two weeks as a result.

Moyes kicks off his reign as West Ham boss away to Watford on Sunday and the former Manchester United manager will have to make do without the 29-year-old.

Hernandez, who has been promised a clean slate under Moyes, will also miss games against Leicester and Everton with an eye on returning for the trip to Manchester City at the start of December.

The Mexico international has a turbulent past with Moyes after failing to see eye-to-eye during their time at United, but Moyes will not hold anything against the striker as he looks to steer the Hammers clear of relegation.

Despite making an underwhelming start to life at West Ham, Hernandez is still their top goalscorer in the Premier League (4).
