Manchester United target dreams of playing in the Premier League

Manchester United have been given encouragement in their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann after the Atletico Madrid striker revealed he dreams of playing in the Premier League.

Griezmann has been a top transfer target for United all season as Jose Mourinho eyes another summer of huge investment to take the Red Devils back to the Premier League’s summit.

The France international has been heavily linked with a move away from Atletico all season, and while he dreams of moving to England, United may have to put their interest on the back burner with Griezmann fully committed to the Rojiblancos.

“Why not?” Griezmann told French outlet L’Equipe in a webchat when asked if he would ever consider playing for Atletico’s rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“It’s a dream to play for the biggest clubs and those two are up with Bayern [Munich] and English clubs that I have dreamed about since I was small.

“But I don’t see myself at Barcelona or Real. Or anywhere else. I am happy in Spain. It’s sunny – that helps I need that to be in my private life and on the pitch. The two are linked.

“I don’t want to leave Atletico to go to Paris [Saint-Germain], China, the United States, Russia or elsewhere.”

Griezmann struggled initially to carry his form on from Euro 2016 into the current campaign but he is now arguably playing some of the best football of his career as Atletico look to secure third place from Sevilla and finally go one further than two losing finals in the Champions League in recent years.

In fact, Griezmann’s last nine appearances has seen the Atletico No.7 score seven goals and register three assists in all competitions for Diego Simeone’s side. In fact, in 2017 only Barcelona’s front three has garnered a higher WhoScored rating than Griezmann in La Liga (7.65).
