Incoming Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with Chelsea winger Willian at Old Trafford in the summer and is willing to sign off on a £60m deal, according to The Sun.
United have already been linked with a move for Nemanja Matic as Mourinho eyes a raid on his former club but they have also now turned their attentions to signing Chelsea’s Club and Players’ Player of the Year.
Chelsea shelled out £30m to sign Willian from Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk three years ago and Mourinho appreciates United would have to double that price if they are to tempt the Blues into selling one of their prize assets.
To add fuel to flame, Willian heaped praise on his former manager in Los Angeles ahead of Brazil’s Copa America campaign.
“Jose is one of the most successful coaches in the world and Manchester United will be stronger with him as manager,” Willian is quoted as saying by The Sun.
“I played some of my best football under Mourinho. He is a special coach and I have a great relationship with him.
“Winning the Premier League with him was one of the highlights of my career. I was sad things didn’t work out after that.”
Willian registered more assists than any other Chelsea player in all competitions this season (9).
