Paris Saint-Germain rule out move for Atletico Madrid star

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique has denied the Ligue 1 giants are preparing a move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Unai Emery’s side have been linked with a move for a world class goalkeeper since the end of last season and Oblak’s name has usually appeared at the top of the list.

The Slovenia international has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has a €100m (£88.5m) release clause in his current Atletico deal.

However, Henrique has moved to cool talks of a summer move for the 24-year-old and insists PSG are very happy with their current set of goalkeepers.

“It’s going well [with Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp], we’re happy,” he told Le Parisien, via Football Espana. “Areola will probably be the future of the French national team.

“Oblak? No, it’s not true. Moreover, no goalkeeper can say that he has been contacted by PSG. We don’t need a goalkeeper, Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp are there.

“Our third goalkeeper, Remy Descamps, will be loaned out in January and he will be replaced by Sebastien Cibois.”

Oblak was awarded the Ricardo Zamora Trophy on Monday - an award given to the goalkeeper with the lowest goals-per-game ratio in Spain - for the second year in succession.

In the last two campaigns, Oblak has kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues (25).
