Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has confirmed Ezequiel Lavezzi is close to sealing his switch the Chinese Super League.
Lavezzi, 31, has been heavily linked with a move to Shanghai Shenhua in recent days where he would join up with the likes of Tim Cahill, Demba Ba and Fredy Guarin.
The Argentina international was originally named in the PSG matchday squad that travelled to Marseille at the weekend but Blanc has confirmed he withdrew late on to continue negotiating his departure.
“Honestly, the club could tell you a lot more than me,” the PSG head coach is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“He prepared to come here to Marseille and then at the last minute he stayed in Paris to negotiate his departure.”
Lavezzi has made 16 appearances in Ligue 1 this season but only three of those have come as a starter. Moreover, he hasn’t scored a league goal since November 7 (vs Toulouse).
