Tottenham star to make stunning return this weekend

Tottenham have been given a huge boost in their attempts to strengthen their grip on second place in the Premier League with Harry Kane set to make a sensational early return from injury in their clash with Watford on Saturday.

Kane, 23, has not featured for Tottenham since suffering ankle ligament damage 10 minutes into their 6-0 win over Millwall in the FA Cup at the start of March and there were initial fears he would miss the remainder of the season.

However, Tottenham were boosted by scan results that showed the injury was not as bad as first feared but now manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed his star striker is set to make an early return from injury this weekend, although it remains to be seen whether he is fit enough to start against Watford.

“We’ll see tomorrow if I decide to start him or if he will be on the bench,” The Guardian quote Pochettino as saying in his pre-match press conference. “The good news is he’s ready. He’s fully recovered and that is great news for him and for us.

“He’s an important player for us and for him to be available again to lead the team is fantastic. I will decide tommorow but surely he’s good to be involved.

“Harry has pushed himself a lot to be fully recovered and get to 100%. We know what he means to the team. He’s a special player. Of course, he wants to start. He is always desperate to play. He’s always in front of you, pushing you to try to play and score goals. His character is unbelievable.”

While Kane’s return to fitness is good news as far as Tottenham are concerned, it isn’t such good news for Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea. Lukaku (21 goals) is only two goals ahead of Kane in the race to finish as the top goalscorer in the Premier League this season, while Tottenham are set to face off against Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley in a fortnights time.

Prior to injury against Millwall, Kane had scored eight goals in his previous four matches for Spurs in all competitions and Pochettino’s side should have no problem securing second place if he can return and hit the ground running with that sort of form once again.
