Swansea City will not let Jefferson Montero leave the club amid speculation linking the winger with a loan move to Championship outfit Middlesbrough.
Montero, 26, joined Swansea from Mexican club Morelia following his exploits in the 2014 World Cup with Ecuador and he made a bright start to the campaign this season.
However, he has since fallen down the pecking order at the Liberty City Stadium and reports had emerged he was on the brink of joining Boro on loan, which Swansea have now denied.
“There are no plans for Jefferson Montero to go anywhere on loan. As things stand, he will stay at Swansea for the rest of the season,” a spokesman from Swansea told the South Wales Evening Post.
Montero hasn’t featured for Swansea in the Premier League since their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at the start of January.
