Paris Saint-Germain to bid £60m for Manchester United star

Paris Saint-Germain will test Manchester United’s resolve with a £60m bid for David de Gea at the end of the season, claims The Sun.

De Gea will only have 12 months left to run on his current United deal in the summer and is not close to agreeing a new long-term contract.

United are prepared to make De Gea the best paid goalkeeper in the world but are refusing to match his £350,000-a-week wage demands.

To make matters more complicated, De Gea is shot of confidence and is enduring his most challenging spell at the club since his early years at Old Trafford.

Real Madrid have reportedly rekindled their interest in De Gea since Zinedine Zidane’s return, while PSG are keen on his signature.

The Ligue 1 champions are not only willing to match his wage demands but they are also prepared to bid £60m this summer to secure his services.

It was suggested United would refuse to sell De Gea even if he does not agree a new deal before the start of next season.

The Red Devils were prepared to drag contract talks into the new campaign if required but it remains to be seen whether that is still the case.

De Gea’s recent form has become a huge problem for a United side that have lost seven of their last nine matches in all competitions.

The 28-year-old has committed as many errors leading to an opposition goal in the Premier League this season as his previous five league campaigns combined (3).
